MPO Connector Inspection Solution(2)
2024-05-11
In the past, best practice procedures for MPO connectors were often complex, time-consuming, and error-prone. However, the new automatic multi-fiber connector inspection solution launched by EXFO has completely changed this situation, providing technicians with a more efficient and accurate inspection method.
Automated multi-fiber detection is now possible
By working closely with data center customers and listening to their needs, EXFO has introduced an automated multi-fiber connector inspection head that addresses many of the limitations faced by traditional multi-fiber connector inspection.
This multi-fiber solution offers many compelling features and benefits that significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of fiber inspection. The following is a detailed introduction to functions and advantages:
1. Rapid detection: For MPO-12 connectors, the entire process from connection to analysis can be completed within 10 seconds (the fastest in the industry).
2. Better imaging quality: By customizing a special large lens, it provides better detection image quality.

3. Best resolution: 2 CMOS detectors, large lens aperture (500W pixels, 1/2.5-inch outsole), strong photosensitivity.

4. Two purple LEDs at 405nm: Provide better vision and contrast by combining with improved lighting technology.

5. Narrow Key design: Compatible with MPO-12 connectors and variants with the key in the middle and MPO-16 connectors and variants with the key on the side.

6. Future-oriented MPO detection: Compatible with MPO-12, MPO-16, and MPO-24 connectors, supports custom editing of fiber cores, and can detect up to 4 rows of 8/12/16 fiber cores per row. Provide protection for possible future testing of new MPO connectors.

7. Zero button detection: Use the automatic reset function to achieve 100% automatic detection - from inserting the connector to saving data (automatic detection, automatic brightness adjustment, automatic focus, automatic image centering, automatic capture, automatic analysis, Auto save results and auto reset).
8. SmarTips: Just use the adapter head to clean the FIP-500 identification area, identify the adapter head type through NFC, and automatically switch the detected connector type & threshold. Prevent front-line workers from selecting incorrect single fiber/multi-fiber, single-mode/multi-mode, etc. settings, making fiber detection easier!
9. Quick-connect adapter head and excellent fool-proof design: The adapter head can be replaced by just turning a quarter turn. If necessary, the adapter head replacement can be completed with one hand. A variety of adapters are available, suitable for single-fiber and multi-fiber connectors (such as LC, SC, ST, OptiTap?, OptiTip?, MPO).

10. Touch screen for easy operation: Equipped with a smartphone-level 2.4-inch color touch screen, providing an intuitive GUI, supporting Bluetooth and WIFI, and providing PDF reports through mobile devices.
11. Durable and uninterrupted testing:
Long battery life: FIP-500 uses a lithium polymer rechargeable battery, which is enough to support a full day of uninterrupted use.
Provides high storage capacity: Up to 2,000 MPO test results or 10,000 single-fiber core test results can be stored locally without stopping and unloading the results. Bluetooth connectivity is provided, ensuring results can be easily shared.

MPO or MTP connectors have always been a good friend of data center managers because they save rack space and comply with 40/400G migration specifications. Nowadays, they are likely to become a close companion to installers and technicians as well, as they minimize the possibility of worrisome downtime or network failure every time a multi-fiber connector inspection is performed. This innovative multi-fiber solution not only improves detection efficiency, but also ensures the stability and reliability of the optical fiber network, providing a strong guarantee for the efficient operation of the data center.
